Bear witness – YOHURA is coming to the Fringe Festival

Toi, La Maladie paints the intimate, voyeuristic portrait of a love that courses through the body like an illness. It wages war with the psyche before it steals furtively away, leaving you shivering in its wake. It permeates every vein and muscle, dissolving almost into a fever dream onstage. Raw, tender, and ravenous –Toi, La Maladie is a haunting symbiosis of human geometry and human emotion, demanding that you bear witness.

Born from the ashes of an aching, virulent love, YOHURA have taken to the stage to tell the story of their tumultuous history together – from collision to collapse.

Since they met backstage at a Toronto circus cabaret in 2016, Ren Datura and Yohan Durand have dreamt of creating work that could capture their individual and shared experiences of love in their most honest form. When Yohan returned to France, Ren was a neo-burlesque artist touring across Canada and the United States, while he made a name for himself performing in a neo-circus in Lyon and touring throughout Europe.  Ren Datura and Yohan Durand formed YOHURA in 2018.

Toi, La Maladie makes its worldwide stage debut at The Cockpit on August 5 and 6, 2019.
