BlackFest 2020 arrives online and LIVE at Constellations

This year’s BlackFest kicks off in just FOUR DAYS and we’re delighted to bring you a variety of online events as well as what’s set to be a fantastic – and safe – socially distanced night of live music and partying at Constellations in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle.

Highlights include:

Children’s Authors

Let’s talk about Black authors and the publishing industry, with award winning writer’s, Phina Oruche and Patrick Graham.

The statistics are out! In a study showing that less than 2% of children authors are Black or people of colour, there is a severe lack of diversity in the publishing industry.

Phina Oruche (who’s recently debuted her new books, Jacopo Jacopo on Lockdown, and Jacopo Jacopo Football Star) and Patrick Graham (who’s recently released The Three Little Jamaicans) are ready to face this discussion head on, and talk about their experiences as esteemed black authors.

Joined by artist Ekua Bayanu and Joint Head of Architecture, Manchester School of Architecture, Ola Uduku (pictured) as they discuss their work and the impact of the Black Lives Matter Movement.
