Camden Fringe: Motherlogues By Forked Theatre
Forked Theatre returns for the third instalment of their hit show MOTHERLOGUES this summer at the Camden Fringe.
Fresh from their stint at the Brighton Fringe, MOTHERLOGUES saw five female actors spend five days together creating honest & frank monologues from a series of timed free-writing sessions. Covering all personal aspects of motherhood, whether it was being a mum, not being able to be a mum, or losing a mum. Check out their London Pub Theatre review here or watch their highlights video here.
In 2017, Forked Theatre are concentrating on getting MOTHERLOGUES bigger & better – they continually put call outs for female contributors to provide their own story. From adoption to surrogacy, from IVF to miscarriage, being a single mum, a young mum or a step mum. Balancing motherhood whilst being in prison, or in a refugee camp. They have already received a wonderful array of funny, heart-warming, sad, but above all honest accounts from Toronto to Melbourne!
Creative Director of Forked Theatre, Lauren Reed, says “It is important for us to have a new cast heading up each edition of MOTHERLOGUES and the Camden Fringe is no different! This means we can provide a new slant on motherhood every time. We will present as many women’s stories as we possibly can not only through characterisation but also using audio clips & on screen interviews with the non-actors we’ve appealed to. We are constantly gathering source material – this show will just grow and grow.”
As a company, Forked Theatre will always tackle the issues presented at key stages of women’s lives and social assumptions faced by modern women. MOTHERLOGUES is the perfect showcase for what they stand for and brilliantly shows how motherhood is a giant fork in the road that all women struggle with.
MOTHERLOGUES opens at The Etcetera Theatre on Wednesday 23rd August until Sunday 27th August at 18:30. Tickets are £12.50 (£10 concs) and all booking information can be found on the Camden Fringe webpage here.
