January 2020 at St Helens Theatre Royal

St Helens Theatre Royal starts 2020 with a month full of fun, live music, dance and laughter for all the family.

January kicks off with 5-star rated FAB-U-LOUS festive family panto, Aladdin, starring Strictly Come Dancing’s Robin Windsor in the title role.  The show has been wowing audiences daily with its mad-cap fun, laughter, songs and fantastic choreography.  It runs until Sun 12 Jan, so there’s still time to cheer on Aladdin and his pals as they try to foil the villainous Abanazer’s plot to rule the world with a very special lamp.

The Aladdin cast got a surprise visit from current Strictly Come Dancing Champion Kelvin Fletcher, who brought his family to see the show this week.  Kelvin was announced as the original star of Aladdin before taking part in Strictly. Professional Strictly dancer Robin Windsor then stepped into the part.  During the show Kelvin took to the stage with children selected from the audience to do The Floss and gave a “Strictly” memorable performance.

On Fri 17 Jan, the UK Pink Floyd Experience authentically recreates the atmosphere of a live Pink Floyd live performance with video projections, light shows and more than 50 years of legendary hits from the iconic albums Dark Side Of The Moon and Animalsplus Wish You Were HereShine On You Crazy DiamondAnother Brick In The Wall and Comfortably Numb.  This spellbinding show is a true celebration of all things Floyd, for fans of all ages.

Jan Strictly Come Dancing legend Kristina Rihanoff presents the sumptuously glamorous Dance To The Music on Tue 21, a show celebrating the evolution of dance through the decades, from Charleston and Tap dance, modern Ballroom, Latin, Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, Salsa, Disco, Breakdancing, Street, Hip Hop, Contemporary Ballet, Salsa to the spectacular Argentine Tango, with plenty of humour and fun facts of showbiz life.

Created, directed, choreographed by and starring Kristina Rihanoff, the show is hosted by X Factor heartthrob Jake Quickenden and also features South African Dancing With The Stars professionals, Marcella Solimeo & Dylon Daniels.

We round out the month with a spectacular concert by ‘the greatest Rock & Roll band in the world’ Showaddywaddy on Fri 31 Jan.  Over four decades the band has sold more than 20 million records and toured all corners of the world.  The show includes their dynamic and uplifting hits: Under The Moon of LoveThree Steps to HeavenHey Rock & RollWhenBlue MoonPretty Little Angel Eyes and many more.

Chantelle Nolan, Theatre Manager said: “We’re kicking off the new year with a spectacular month of outstanding entertainment to appeal to all ages in January.  We’ve got the stars of Strictly in our FAB-U-LOUS family Panto, Aladdin and the spectacular Dance To The Music.  While music lovers can choose from decades of hit music with the UK Pink Floyd Experience and Showaddywaddy.  And this is just the start of what will be an amazing year of entertainment at St Helens Theatre Royal.”
