New Vic Theatre To Throw Open Its Doors For Fun-Packed Open Day

The New Vic Theatre is inviting people to explore the theatre on Saturday 15 July in a jam-packed Open Day for all the family.

The free event will see the theatre-in-the-round open its doors to the public for an access-all-areas look behind the scenes, with a whole host of activities on offer throughout the day for all to enjoy.

Theatre-goers will be invited to see how the New Vic takes its home-grown productions from page-to-stage: explore the costume and design departments, discover the technical magic used by Lighting and Sound teams to bring productions to life on stage and find out secret tricks-of-the-trade from the Stage Management team. Workshops will be on offer throughout the day, and younger visitors can enjoy a treasure hunt around the building or see Just Soph, an interactive storytelling performance for curious children.

Theresa Heskins, New Vic Artistic Director, said: “This theatre belongs to local people, and so we want to invite you to come in and have a look around in the secret places that we don’t usually open to the public – the workshops and rehearsal rooms and backstage areas – to discover what goes on behind-the-scenes and to see how we create our made-in-Staffordshire productions. We’re really looking forward to sharing some secrets with audiences young and old that day, and there’ll be lots on offer for all the family to enjoy.”

The Open Day takes place from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 15 July.

More news about the activities planned for the day and a schedule of events will be revealed on the New Vic’s website soon –
