It’s that time of year again and in Stoke-on-Trent, that can only mean one thing. Local favourite Jonathan Wilkes returns for the biggest Panto in town – and this year marks his 10th anniversary treading the boards of The Regent Theatre. But don’t be fooled that you’ve seen it all before, because this team seems to come back stronger each year.
This year also welcomes back best-loved Panto dame Christian Patterson, now in his 7th year, but this time as the villainous Captain Hook.
We all know the tale of Peter Pan who flies Wendy, John and Michael to Neverland to meet the Lost Boys and battle the Pirates and Johnny and the team tell the story with plenty of Panto mischief and magic along the way.
The talent simply oozes from the entire cast; Yazmin Wood stars as Wendy and is certainly a name to look out for in the future, and you’ll struggle to find a bigger voice than Amanda Coutts as the troublesome Tinker Bell who, most notably, glides across the stage in roller-skates for the entirety of the show!
The whole company deserve a mention, many of which come from the Wilkes Academy, with stunning choreography by Nikki Wilkes the big numbers to some top charting hits from 2015 really are captivating and a joy to watch.
Arguably the best moments of the show (for the grown-ups) at least is when Jonathan and Christian are on the stage together, which often bring some of the most hilarious, unplanned moments, which is testament to the talent on the stage.
Peter Pan isn’t your traditional Panto and you won’t find the complete story in this show – but what you will find is 2 hours of completely enjoyable entertainment with many local references, lots of new comedy and most importantly, whether you’re a kid or just a big kid at heart, you’ll love it.
Peter Pan plays at The Regent Theatre, Stoke on Trent until 3rd January 2016 – call 0844 871 7615 or Click Here to buy tickets now.
