The Red Shoes – UK Tour

Matthew Bourne has long been delighting traditional ballet fans whilst converting many more. His exceptional expertise and distinct ‘silent film’ style puts his productions at the top of the ballet “must see” lists.

The Red Shoes is a Hans Christian Andersen Fairy Tale and is beautifully presented through ballet, in this piece.

Most impressive of all about this production is the set. An incredible mechanical structure enables the action to take place in many different locations but notably front and backstage, bringing a beautiful, fast flowing, extra dimension to the action.

All of course beautifully danced, perfectly acted and in the signature style that we have come to adore.

Ashley Shaw is perfect in the role of the rising star. Her beauty and grace steals the hearts of the audience. She is a diamond in Bourne’s bursting treasure trove of talent.

The 2017 Olivier Awards paint a pretty accurate picture with The Red Shoes winning BEST ENTERTAINMENT AND FAMILY and Matthew Bourne himself winning BEST THEATRE CHOREOGRAPHER. It’s not difficult to see why. If this is your first New Adventures production, it won’t be your last.
